What does „CNC“ stand for?

The abbreviation “CNC” stands for “Computerized Numerical Control”. CNC-machines are machines, which are working automatically, precise and based on 3D-data. CNC-machines can process milling- and turning-articles.

CNC-Milling

Milling is a shape cutting technology. Generally, the articles are milled out of raw material blocks. The block is clamped, while the rotating milling tool is removing redundant material and thereby carving out the article.

This process is also called “subtractive process”.

Milling is applicable for small quantities or for articles, at which only little redundant raw material has to be removed.

By CNC-milling the focus is lying on a fast manufacturing of metal- and plastic-parts, which require a high precision and only little tolerance.

This procedure is suitable for metals and high tensile plastics.

Which advantages do CNC-articles have?

Due to automatic manufacturing and high precision very complex and difficult parts can be machined, in combination with best quality.

Not only necessary data like dimensions or geometry can be entered and exactly realized.
Additionally, the control of the manufacturing is done automatically.

Tool-breakage and -wear-out is continuously checked, also the quality of the machined articles – everything while the machine is running.

Additional tooling is not required.

Materials for CNC-machining?

There is a variety of materials which can be CNC-machined. Especially soft-, alloyed-, tool- and stainless-steel are machined, but also Aluminum, different alloys and Titan.

Additionally, a wide spectrum of plastics, like polypropylene, nylon, PET and teflon, can be processed.

Finishing treatments

Following to the CNC-milling and CNC-turning process articles may still be improved, for example by heat treatment, like hardening, or by different procedures of coating.
